It probably has a few features that Vegas Pro does not, but Vegas Pro has many advanced features that VPX does not have. Don't even bother with the basic version. If you go for MEP, get at least the Plus version, better with the Premium if you like the additional third party addons.
From what I have seen, it is much more straight forward than Vegas. You don't get all of the goodies but you get a good idea of the look and feel of it. I may be quite late getting in here, you can download and try out any of the Magix products before buying. Thoughts?īTW - I own copies of Pinnacle Studio 19 (and about 8 others) as well as the last version of Avid Liquid and even an older version of the MAGIX video product (don't remember the name). I'm sure I'm not the only one considering other products. My preliminary assessment of MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium looks promising. Therefore, I am mostly using it for Home videos which is why I can't justify spending more than $200. Many are happy with someone taking a shaky video with their cell phone. They don't seem to care about professional covers and labels and multi-cam videos. She said she thinks she has a nephew that can do it. Last month I offered to do a wedding video for about 1/3 of what it's worth and half of what I normally would charge and she seemed surprised. Now the world has changed and people don't want to pay anything for a professional videographer. I know at least one of you will say, "It depends on what you're using it for." We started a video business in 2001 and did hundreds of video projects.
If they offered it for $199 I would be getting out my debit card RIGHT NOW!

I am interested in the SVP 14 upgrade but not willing to pay another $349 for the Suite. Most of these crashes seem to be related to NewBlue products such as the Titler. I have been using SVP since version 8 and while I love just about everything about it, I don't like all of the crashes. Do you have experience with both Sony Vegas Pro and MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium? If so, I am interested in your take on the benefits of each.
